Waterford police are looking for a large-footed man who robbed a cash advance store and tied up the clerk in a back room last week.

Around 11:30 a.m. Dec. 23 the suspect asked for a loan application at the Advance America Cash Advance in the 4300 block of Highland, police said.

The man left the store and returned about 20 minutes later with an incomplete application and a bank statement. A female clerk told him he would need to complete the application.

He left the store and returned a second time. When the clerk told him he didn’t qualify for an advance, he robbed the store, police said.

“The suspect reached over the counter, grabbing the victim by the hair and pointed a black pistol at her,” police said in a release. “The suspect demanded the money from the till before forcing the victim into a back room where he bound her hands and feet.”

Police found the clerk with her hands and feet zip-tied together.

He is described as an older male, 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, dark pants and black shoes. The clerk reported the man had large feet.

He left the store in a burgundy or maroon-colored sedan with an undisclosed amount of money.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police tip line at (248) 674-2677 or email policetips@twp.waterford.mi.us.
