More than 1M visitors flock to Detroit Zoo in 2014
Annual attendance at the Detroit Zoo exceeded 1 million for the ninth year in a row, with attendance hitting 1,363,949 in 2014.
Wild Lights, the zoo’s annual holiday light display, drew more than 100,000 people, contributing to the 2014 numbers.
In 2013, attendance was 1,304,114.
“Good weather for most of the year, excellent attendance for Wild Lights and continued improvements in operations and facilities were all contributing factors in our robust attendance,” said Ron Kagan, Detroit Zoological Society executive director and CEO.
The Cotton Family Wolf Habitat, slated to open in the spring, is expected to be a popular attraction. The zoo will also present its biggest Dinosauria exhibit ever this summer, with 40 animatronic dinosaurs.
