Superior Township — Authorities say a 27-year-old Highland Township man was killed while snowmobiling in the eastern Upper Peninsula

The Chippewa County sheriff’s department says Craig Althouse was riding on a trail in Superior Township on Saturday when he lost control of his snowmobile and struck some trees.

The crash site is about 20 miles west-southwest of Sault Ste. Marie near the unincorporated community of Raco.

The sheriff’s department says Althouse was driving too fast for conditions. It says he was wearing a helmet.
