Body believed to be missing woman found in snow

Independence Township — Deputies believe a body found frozen face down in a snow bank is that of a 67-year-old woman who disappeared from her home in January.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department said the body appears to be that of Sharyn Marie McDonnell, who reportedly suffered from dementia.

Deputies and first responders from the Independence Township Fire Department were dispatched to an address in the 6600 block of Andersonville Road at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.

A caller reported to the sheriff’s department that the body of a female was found face down in the snow and appeared to be frozen.

Responding detectives determined that the clothing description matched that of McDonnell, who was last seen in January when she left her home at the Chalet Villa Apartments.

The area was searched several times since her disappearance but with no avail. An autopsy is scheduled to confirm the identify of the body.
