Coyote trapping in Royal Oak results in backlash
Royal Oak — A man hired by a homeowner’s association to trap coyotes in says he’s received death threats amid backlash about his work.
WXYZ-TV reports Dennis Cronk was hired by the Arlington Park homeowner’s association in Royal Oak after about dozen homeowners complained about coyotes displaying aggressive behavior. He trapped one last week and is seeking one or two others.
The station broadcast video of a coyote in a trap.
Royal Oak Police Chief Corrigan O’Donohue briefed city commissioners Monday night following questions about coyotes in the community. He says he met with Cronk and told commissioners a state-approved method of trapping coyotes was being used.
City officials say there will be no trapping on city land and that any trapping in Royal Oak was commissioned by private homeowners.
