Pontiac man dead, suspect in custody following double shooting
A 19-year-old Pontiac man died Friday and police have a 20-year-old suspect in custody following a double shooting Thursday.
Around 1:48 p.m. Thursday, Oakland County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim. A 19-year-old, who had a gunshot wound to his arm, had walked to Doctors’ Hospital where he reported that he and his brother, Mandral Ross, also 19, were shot.
Deputies found Ross with a gunshot wound to the head in the driver’s seat of a van in an alley between the 100 block of Mary Day Street and the 100 block of Henry Clay Street. He was transported in critical condition to McLaren Oakland Hospital, where he died Friday afternoon.
An incident summary from deputies said the surviving brother said “ he did not know the shooter but that his brother did. He said they ‘had picked the suspect up to conduct some business.’”
He told police that the suspect shot his brother before shooting him.
The Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Team took the suspect, a 20-year-old Pontiac man, into custody in Detroit. He is being held in the Oakland County Jail pending charges. The team also recovered a handgun believed to be used in the shooting.
