Pontiac gunman missing after hours-long standoff
Pontiac — The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office was searching Monday for an alleged gunman accused of firing a shot following an argument with his girlfriend outside their home.
The alleged shooting sparked an hours-long standoff outside the home on Hazel Avenue east of Telegraph Road on Monday, according to Sgt. Dale Brown.
Deputies responded to the home at about 10:11 a.m. after an alleged domestic violence incident. A woman reported that she fought with her boyfriend before leaving the home. She returned with her brother to collect some possessions and her boyfriend fired a shot at the ground near her brother, Brown said.
The woman and her brother escaped unharmed.
The county’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team arrived at the home and unsuccessfully tried to contact the suspect.
Deputies believed the man was still inside the home but entered the home at 3:09 p.m. and discovered that the man had left.
“Detectives are looking to determine his whereabouts,” Brown said.
