Pontiac — The Pontiac school district announced an $11 million fundraising effort Wednesday to convert a closed middle school into a new home for the International Technology Academy.

The money would pay for rebuilding the former Lincoln Middle School, including removal of debris and hazardous materials, upgrades to the infrastructure and addition of new technology and modern accessories for students.

The district says the current academy facility, which houses 450 students in grades 6-12, is at capacity.

The academy, a satellite of Pontiac High School, is at the former Walt Whitman Elementary School.
