Crews battle large brush fire in Troy

Fire crews battled a large brush fire Friday night near East Square Lake and Atkins roads in Troy.

It wasn’t immediately clear what sparked the blaze in an area near a subdivision, where a WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) helicopter filmed fire trucks on a home’s driveway and a partly blocked road streaming water on the flames.

Smoke rose above patches burning far behind surrounding structures, which did not appear to be affected.

Police and firefighters remained on the scene for hours No injuries were reported, city dispatchers said.
