Detroit — The assistant marching band director at Troy Athens High School was charged Tuesday with child porn possession.

Eric Junod, 38, was arraigned Tuesday in federal court. A part-time assistant marching band director since 2006, Junod was fired Monday after school officials learned about the criminal case, school district spokeswoman Kerry Birmingham said.

“Police have told us that there is no indication any Troy School District students were involved in any way,” Birmingham said.

Junod’s profile on the school district band page says he taught symphonic band and marching band at Troy Athens for the last 15 years.

A federal magistrate judge ordered Junod temporarily held without bond pending a hearing Wednesday in federal court.

The case against Junod started early this year after FBI agents linked him to a group of individuals who regularly send and receive child pornography via an unnamed website, according to FBI Special Agent Brad Burnett.

In late January, a user named “Viper45” registered with the website and accessed images of a naked prepubescent girl being touched by an adult.

In March, the same user viewed several images, including one of a 3-year-old girl in a lewd pose and another of a naked 3-year-old girl involved in a sex act.

The FBI traced the user’s Internet service to Junod’s home in Holly, according to court records. According to his Facebook profile, Junod is married and a father and worked as an IT field service technician.

Agents searched the home Monday and seized a laptop computer, an iPhone and iPad. A review found more than 600 images of suspected child porn, according to court records.

Junod allegedly told agents he stored child porn on the devices, the investigator wrote in a court filing.

According to the FBI, Junod also allegedly admitted trading child porn at least 100 times.

“Junod initially denied that he had sexual contact with any children,” the agent wrote.

But during questioning, Junod said “he has engaged in sexually explicit conversations with minor children online,” the agent wrote. “He discussed traveling out of state to meet two underage girls but claimed he never intended to do so.

“He has sent pictures of his penis to underage girls and has received sexually explicit images from underage girls.”

Junod also admitted to inappropriately touching a girl when she was as young as 12 months old, the agent added.
