Police in Oakland County are looking for the vandals who damaged multiple headstones and graves at the Sashabaw Plains Cemetery in Independence Township.

Investigators were called to the cemetery Friday afternoon where they found numerous head stones that were damaged in the middle of the cemetery, some of which were very old.

Some of the head stones were broken and others were broken and scattered about the cemetery, police said.

The date and time of the incident is unknown, police said, but the damage appears to be recent.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office at 248-858-4911 or Crime Stoppers.

There is a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
