Pontiac — The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is reporting two shootings out of Pontiac last week.

The first came at about 1 a.m. Thursday when a 23-year-old woman was shot in the back inside her home at Spring Lake Apartments on the 700 block of Auburn.

The woman’s three children were sleeping in their bedroom at the time and were unhurt. Two of the woman’s roommates, who were present at the time of the shooting, said they didn’t see the shooter, but did advise sheriff’s deputies that the woman had recently broken up with her boyfriend, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was transported to McLaren Hospital and is in stable condition, the sheriff’s office says.

In the second incident, which was at 8 p.m. Thursday, a 19-year-old woman with a passenger in her car was shot at by her ex-boyfriend while the car was moving. The shooting happened on the 300 block of Ferry Street.

“The victim observed the suspect on Ferry and an argument ensued during which the suspect pull out a silver handgun,” the sheriff’s office reported in a media release. “The victim was in fear for her and her passenger’s lives and drove away. The suspect fired one shot toward the passenger side of her vehicle,” which hit and flattened the woman’s tire. No one was hurt.

The suspect is a 20-year-old male Pontiac resident, the sheriff’s office says. The woman said she had been receiving threatening text messages from the suspect prior to the shooting. Detectives are investigating.
