Orion Township — Three suspects are in custody from a home invasion in which the suspects ran over a mailbox as they sped away, according to authorities.

A 38-year-old Holly man, a 46-year-old Pontiac man and a 30-year-old Pontiac woman are jailed and all expected to face charges in the incident that began about 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of Walter Hall Street.

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies were sent there on a "suspicious circumstances" complaint after a 66-year-old homeowner said he arrived home and found two people loading items into a green GM Blazer. The man called 911, checked his home and deputies found a rear door had been damaged to the man's next-door neighbor where firearms, jewelry and other items were missing.

A vehicle matching the Blazer was stopped on southbound Joslyn near Cedar Key in the township and deputies recovered dozens of stolen items, including three handguns, watches, jewelry, collector coins, pawn slips and electronic items including a large screen TV.

During their investigation, a U.S. Postal worker told deputies she had seen a handgun on a safety path in front of a nearby school. The weapon was recovered and also determined to have been taken in the home invasion.
