Federal authorities have accused a White Lake Township sex offender and his wife of possessing child pornographic materials and say the wife told authorities the illicit material “is the only thing that sexually excited” her spouse.

Colin Matthew Boyle

The FBI executed a search warrant Monday at the home of Colin Matthew Boyle and that of his parents’ in Lake Orion after investigators learned he allegedly accessed a website with child pornography, according to a criminal complaint and affidavit filed this week in U.S. District Court.

The Boyles are accused of producing, distributing, receiving and possessing child porn, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court. Detention hearings for both are scheduled Friday.

Colin Boyle, who has two prior criminal sexual conduct convictions in Macomb and Oakland counties, is accused of accessing a post with a link to an image that depicted an adult molesting a baby girl believed to be about 2 months old, the court filing said. Boyle, a registered sex offender, twice violated his registration requirements, including while incarcerated for a 2007 fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct conviction, officials said in the affidavit.

During the search warrant, Boyle admitted downloading child porn online, and an FBI forensic examiner found a folder on the man’s computer with several such videos, the filing said.

Agents also discovered a “point and click” camera containing video of a nude 1-year-old girl shown in an explicit way. A male voice resembling Boyle’s was audible, authorities wrote in the affidavit. The filing indicated the girl, referred to as MV-1, was known to the couple.

When interviewed, Boyle’s wife, Anngela, said he “electronically sends her child pornography via cell phones, and she has sent child pornography back to him the same way,” according to the court filing. “She explained to law enforcement that child pornography is the only thing that sexually excited Colin Matthew Boyle, and the transmission of child pornography between the couple is for the purpose of his sexual gratification.”

Anngela Boyle also said she and her husband had engaged the child found on the camera as well as a 3-year-old boy in sexually explicit activity at least four times, according to the affidavit.

“She indicated that Colin Matthew Boyle would have his phone out during these encounters, though she was not sure if he recorded them,” an FBI special agent wrote.
