Novi — Traffic has been restored to Interstate 96 after a truck crash caused a mile long back up early Wednesday morning.

According to the Michigan Department of Transportation a truck lost control and veered into a retention pond on westbound I-96, near Novi Road, at about 5:30 a.m.

The truck driver was uninjured but first responders had to use an inflatable boat to reach him. The crash didn’t completely close down the freeway, but it did impact the right and center lanes.
