Troy — Apparently it’s never too early to start your Christmas shoplifting.

On Saturday, security officers at the Victoria’s Secret store at the Somerset Collection stopped two women after they tried to steal nearly $800 worth of merchandise.

According to the Troy Police Department, the women, both from Akron, Ohio, and ages 20 and 29, entered the high end store at about 8:30 p.m.

Officers discovered that the women had removed security sensors from the merchandise and used bags lined with layers of aluminum foil to defeat the security system.

Officers searching their vehicle discovered nearly $8,000 in merchandise stolen from other businesses.

They were charged with second-degree retail fraud, possession of stolen property, organized retail fraud and possession of burglary tools.

They are currently being held at the Oakland County Jail.
