Michigan State Police are seeking tips from the public to find a man who robbed a Royal Oak Township Family Dollar at gunpoint last weekend.

Metro Post troopers were dispatched to the store in the 20700 block of Wyoming Avenue after the robbery was reported about 6:41 p.m. Sunday.

Police say a masked youth with a semi-automatic pistol took cash at Family Dollar on Wyoming on Sunday.

A young man wearing a mask and armed with a semi-automatic pistol “made contact with store employees and was able to take the cash that was in the register,” State Police said in a statement Monday.

The suspect then exited the store near Eight Mile and fled north, MSP officials said.

Investigators describe him as a dark-skinned African-American about 17-25 years old, 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a black mask covering his mouth and nose.

Anyone with information is asked to call the MSP Special Investigation Section at (734) 287-5000.
