A disgruntled church member stabbed a security guard outside a Troy church Sunday.

Troy police say Brian Boulus, 21, of Center Line was armed with a small kitchen knife when he approached the guard outside Christ the King Syriac Church, 2300 John R.

The guard saw the knife and told Boulus to put it back in his car. Boulus refused and stabbed the guard before fleeing, witnesses told police. The guard sustained a small cut to his abdomen and was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital.

Authorities found Boulus at his home and arrested him without incident, police said.

He was arraigned Tuesday in front of 52-4 District Magistrate Clement Waldmann on a charge of assault with intent to commit murder. He was given a bond of $100,000 cash or surety.
