Pontiac — The discovery of a bruised 3-year-old boy with multiple broken bones led to the arrest of a man dating the child’s mother, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

The boy was brought into Crittenton Hospital around 11:10 p.m. Friday suffering from a broken clavicle bone and femur bone, officials said. He also had several bruises in different stages of healing.

Medical personnel suspected child abuse and alerted the sheriff’s office before transferring the child to Royal Oak Beaumont for further treatment, officials said. Deputies responded to interview the child’s mother and her boyfriend.

The boyfriend, a 29-year-old Pontiac resident, was subsequently arrested and lodged at the Oakland County Jail on a child abuse charge, officials said. No further updates were immediately available Tuesday on the case.
