Man wanted for cocaine possession, resisting arrest
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a 35-year-old Orion Township man who allegedly resisted arrest after he was caught attempting to retrieve cocaine hidden in a Pontiac gas station wastebasket.
According to officials, around 5:40 p.m. on Sunday sheriff deputies were at the Mobil Gas Station in the 700 block of Featherstone Road when they saw a patron searching the wastebasket of the men’s room.
“When the subject exited the restroom, the deputy checked the location and found two intermediate sized corner ties of suspected cocaine,” officials said in a statement Tuesday. “Because the suspect could not be identified, the property was confiscated and returned to the substation for processing.”
A deputy returned to the gas station a short time later to review surveillance video and saw that the man had returned.
“While attempting to handcuff the suspect, he began to struggle with the deputy,” officials said. “The deputy deployed his Taser, but it had no effect. A foot chase ensued, but the suspect was not apprehended.”
Deputies found the suspect’s vehicle in the parking lot. A passenger in the vehicle identified the suspect, according to the sheriff’s department. The vehicle was impounded.
Detectives from the Narcotics Enforcement Team will continue the investigation.
