Pontiac — Investigators are looking into whether a fatal shooting Monday night is related to a drive-by shooting at the same address earlier this month.

A 23-year-old man was being questioned in the death which occurred when the victim, also 23 years old, was allegedly trying to climb through the bedroom window of a home in the 60 block of West Longfellow shortly before midnight, according to a preliminary report with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were sent to the address after a caller reported he had fired shots through a window at the victim who was lying outside the home on the ground.

The man, who was wounded in the chest, was dressed all in black. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

No one has been charged in the shooting and it was unclear if the victim was known to the occupants of the address, identified as the 67-year-old man who owns the house and his 23-year-old son. They were both questioned by investigators, who also confiscated a .45 caliber handgun, registered to the shooter.

According to deputies, on Jan. 10 someone fired six times into the house and also three times at the house next door. No one was injured in the earlier incident which remains unsolved.
