Pontiac — Three fires and a dead dog.

That’s the mystery police are trying to unravel after visiting a Pontiac home Monday.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office was called to the two-story house in the 600 block of Markle at 5:47 p.m.

Deputies found that, two days earlier, three fires had been set in the home, two on the bottom floor and one on the top.

They also discovered one of the family dogs dead in a garbage can outside the home.

The deputies don’t know how the dog died, or whether there was any connection between its death and the fires.

A 16-year-old female, whose name wasn’t released, is suspected of setting the fires, according to the sheriff’s incident report.

The victim was a 44-year-old man whose identity also wasn’t released.

The connection between the teen and the man wasn’t described in the report.

No one was injured in the fires, said the sheriff’s office.

The incident remains under investigation, said the sheriff’s office.
