A man was arrested after a robbery at a Royal Oak Township bank this week -- the same one he was on parole for robbing more than a decade earlier.

Troopers were headed to the TCF Bank inside the Kroger on Eight Mile at about 2:55 p.m. Tuesday when they spotted the man walking west on nearby Pembroke, state police said in a statement. The suspect fled as troopers stepped out of their vehicles.

A canine tracked him to the 19900 block of Pinehurst, where troopers found the man under a vehicle in a home’s backyard, police said.

The 38-year-old was arrested without incident about 18 minutes after an alarm sounded at Kroger, according to MSP.

But that wasn’t the only surprise. Authorities learned the man was on parole for robbing the same bank in 2005.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was held in the Oakland County Jail.
