Waterford Township Supervisor Gary Wall announced Monday that he will run for re-election.

Republican Wall is in his first term, having defeated Democrat Carl W. Solden in a tight race, 51 percent to 49 percent, in November 2012. So far, no other candidates have filed to run in the Aug. 2 primary. The deadline to file to run is in April, Wall said.

“I take pride in the job I’ve done and truly believe I can continue to help make Waterford the best place to live, work and raise a family,” he said in a statement Monday.

Wall said that under his leadership, Waterford has balanced its budget and had its credit rating raised to AA status. He also said the township has removed several blighted buildings and has forced hundreds of code violations to be fixed.

“Team Waterford is chock full of talented, hard working employees, residents and business owners who are committed to the betterment of this community,” the lifelong township resident said.
