Southfield man arrested in Arizona deaths of 2 women

Phoenix — Police investigating the shooting deaths of two women in a home in a Phoenix suburb say the discovery of a cellphone at the crime scene provided a major break in the investigation.

Two men arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and robbery have been identified as Andrew Thomas Lauro, 24, of Goodyear and Montez Lavell Wright III, 23, of Southfield, Michigan.

Police searching the home after the Feb. 8 killings of Barbara Leslie, 70, of Surprise and her visiting friend Ruth Schwed, 75, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, found the cellphone on the floor.

A police spokesman wouldn’t identify the phone’s owner but said it didn’t belong to either victim.

Also, a police probable cause statement says investigators obtained search warrants and obtained phone records that revealed “persons of interest.”
