2 Pontiac men dead after single-car crash

Two Pontiac men — one 27 years old, the other 40 — died early Saturday morning after a single-car crash in Pontiac, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

The 27-year-old was driving a 2001 Oldsmobile van westbound on the 200 block of Columbia Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree. The man and a 40-year-old passenger both were pronounced dead at the scene. The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office took the bodies into custody, and an autopsy has been scheduled.

Neither of the men wore seat belts, but their airbags did deploy.

Police are investigating the crash, and say alcohol or drugs might have been a factor.
