Officials have released an image of a semi-truck suspected in the fatal hit-and-run last month of an unidentified woman in Southfield.

The driver of the white semi-truck, possibly a Volvo, was traveling without a load on West Eight Mile between Southfield and Evergreen roads around 2:50 a.m. Feb. 23, officials said. The vehicle allegedly struck a woman walking along westbound Eight Mile.

“It is believed that the driver of the semi might have witnessed the accident and probably dragged the victim afterward,” Crime Stoppers said in a statement Thursday.

The organization is offering a reward of up to $1,000 leading to the location of the semi-trailer driver, who allegedly fled the scene southbound on Evergreen Road, south of Eight Mile. The semi is expected to have significant front-end damage caused by the collision.

The unidentified victim is an African-American woman between 30 and 40 years old, officials said. She was not carrying identification.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Southfield police at (248) 796-5500 or call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) SPEAK-UP. Tipsters also can visit www.1800speakup.org or text their tip to 274637.
