The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the couple who died Friday in a homicide-suicide in Orion Township.

Mark Renusch, 57, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and Marie Renusch, 56, died of a gunshot wound, the examiner’s office said.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Mark Renusch was a senior copy writer with Team Detroit since November 2014 and worked in marketing and advertising for much of his career. He’d been in the field since finishing at Michigan State University in 1981.

One section of his profile reads: “I’ve worked in America, Toyko and Amsterdam. I’ve worked with some of the best advertising agencies and clients in the world and presented to the very top levels. And yet, words still humble me. They are so difficult.”

The couple, who lived on the 3000 block of Kelsey, was hosting a 17-year-old female Japanese foreign exchange student at the time they died, said the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

The exchange student “had heard the couple verbally arguing” the night before the shooting, “which has occurred in the past,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement last week.
