A Pontiac man and two others are accused of kicking in the door of his mother’s apartment, threatening her with a sawed-off shotgun and a knife from her own kitchen before stealing her cellphone and prescription medication early Sunday morning, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said Monday in a statement.

The incident occurred at 4:39 a.m. at North Hill Farms Apartments on the 1 block of Firelite Lane in Pontiac. The victim, a 54-year-old woman, said she had her door kicked in by a group of three men who brandished a sawed-off shotgun. At one point, police say, the woman was threatened with a knife from her own kitchen, before the men allegedly stole her cellphone and prescription medication before fleeing.

Oakland County sheriff’s deputies found the men in a burgundy van traveling south on Baldwin Road near Montcalm, and stopped them near Cadillac Street and Jefferson Avenue, where they made arrests of an 18-year-old man, a 23-year-old man, and a 30-year-old woman. One suspect, according to the release, is the son of the victim. All three are from Pontiac.

Inside the van, police recovered the shotgun and the knife the victim described, along with the medication.

The incident remains under investigation.
