Overloaded equipment causes 3,000 to lose power in Southfield
DTE Energy crews are working to restore power to 3,000 customers without electricity in the Southfield area, according to the utility.
Power is expected to be restored around 6 p.m.
The outage was caused by overloaded equipment most likely due to a large number of customers using air conditioners to combat the hot weather, a spokeswoman said.
Temperatures peaked at 93 degrees Monday afternoon in Metro Detroit, according to the National Weather Service.
According to the DTE Energy outage map, the majority of customers impacted are along Telegraph Road between Eight and 12 Mile roads.
