The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a 1-year-old girl was found dead Monday morning in Pontiac.

The baby’s mother said she had laid her child down in her crib Sunday night at 10 p.m. at the 70 block of Ridgemont. By the time 11 a.m. Monday rolled around, the mother became concerned, thinking 13 hours was too long for the baby to still be asleep, according to the sheriff’s office.

She found her daughter unresponsive, called the police, and tried to remove the child from the crib to attempt CPR, the sheriff’s office said.

None of it worked. A doctor from McLaren Oakland, remotely communicating with paramedics on the scene, pronounced the baby dead.

The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office has an autopsy scheduled.
