Bloomfield Hills — An animal sanctuary focusing on bats is reopening at the Cranbrook Institute of Science following renovations and upgrades.

The Organization for Bat Conservation at Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills is reopening “Bat Zone” on Saturday. The building is home to nearly 200 nocturnal animals. Wildlife habitats have been expanded and building infrastructure improvements have been made.

Visitors can see exotic wildlife and meet Molasses, a two-toed sloth, and Kamilah, a member of the world’s largest species of bat, along with other bats. To mark the reopening, patrons are being offered weekly bat walks until Aug. 26. Details are posted online.
