I-696 east partially reopens at Greenfield after crash
Eastbound Interstate 696 reopened Friday afternoon after a gravel hauler flipped, forcing the freeway to close at Greenfield in Southfield, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
The closure occurred at about 10:13 a.m., Michigan Department of Transportation spokesperson Diane Cross said in an email.
“Expect gawker delays,” MDOT tweeted.
Capt. Trent Rettschlag of the Southfield Fire Department said the crash included an overturned box truck and small diesel spill but was minor in scope. It is unclear if the driver of the hauler was taken to the hospital at this time.
Michigan State Police were not immediately available for comment.
