The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man, about 35 years old, who is accused of swiping a $20 bill from an open register Sunday night at a Jimmy John’s in Independence Township.

Just before closing time on Sunday night, about 9:50 p.m., a man wearing the mask of “Thing,” a superhero of Fantastic Four fame, approached the front counter at the sandwich shop on the 5600 block of Sashabaw Road.

At some point, when the register was open, police say he reached over the counter and grabbed a $20 from the till. The employee closed the register before any more money could be taken, and the man escaped through the store’s back door, leaving in an unknown direction.

There is no video of the incident, police say.
