A 62-year-old Pontiac man faces criminal charges after he allegedly attacked his 52-year-old brother with a golf club Sunday evening.

The incident happened around 6:05 p.m. in the 600 block of Lawson Drive in Orion Township, officials said. A woman called emergency to report that her husband was being assaulted by his brother who was armed with a golf club.

The suspect left the scene prior to deputies arriving, officials said. Deputies found him in a vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

“Deputies made contact with the suspect and detected an odor of intoxicants coming from his breath,” officials wrote in a statement Monday.

The suspect could not complete the physical sobriety tests and his preliminary breath test registered a 0.26 BAC, officials said, which is more than three times the legal limit of .08.

Deputies obtained a search warrant when the suspect refused a blood draw.

The suspect was arrested for felonious assault and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, third offense. He was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending charges.
