A 37-year-old man was killed and another man injured late Monday in a three-motorist crash in Holly Township, according to Michigan State Police.

Two motorcyclists were traveling around 9:15 p.m. along eastbound Grange Hall Road between North Holly and Riviera Shores when one of the drivers lost control of his bike and struck a guardrail, police said.

The deceased “was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control in the curve, striking the guardrail,” police said in a statement. “When the operator struck the guard rail, he separated from his motorcycle and landed in the road. His motorcycle struck a vehicle that was traveling westbound and then struck the other motorcycle knocking that rider to the ground.”

The other motorcyclist had “minor injuries” that did not require medical attention, officials said. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

The deceased, a Holly resident who was not identified by police, was wearing a helmet but did not have a motorcycle endorsement.

Grange Hall remained closed until 2 a.m. Tuesday, officials said. The incident remains under investigation by state police.
