Royal Oak police late Thursday arrested two suspects who allegedly robbed a Community Choice Credit Union earlier in the day.

One of the suspects entered the bank at 11:50 a.m. on Thursday and passed a note to a teller demanding money, police said. After obtaining money, the suspect ran to a vehicle driven by a second suspect parked nearby. They fled the area.

A witness observed the suspect run from the bank to the suspect vehicle, called 911 and provided police with the direction of travel and vehicle information, police said.

Officers located the suspect’s vehicle stopped on East 12 Mile at North Altadena. As officers pulled up, one of the suspects ran from the vehicle northbound through the neighborhood into Red Run Golf Course.

The driver stayed with the vehicle and was arrested. The driver’s 1-year-old child was found in the back seat and taken into protective custody.

Officers found the second suspect near a golf course service entrance. As officers approached, the suspect fled on foot into a backyard, where he was taken into custody. No one was injured during the incident.

Both suspects are Detroit residents, ages 20 and 21. They were arrested for bank robbery, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.
