A 19-year-old woman from Memphis, Tennessee was fatally shot and three others were injured late Saturday night in a drive-by shooting in Pontiac, police said.

The shooting happened on the 70 block of Thorpe at about 11:09 p.m. Friday. When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they learned from witnesses that four people had been hit by gunfire that came from a dark-colored vehicle with its lights turned off. That vehicle had three or four occupants.

The shooters, police say, were wearing masks.

No other details were available.

The deceased victim, 19-year-old Aniya Edwards, was a former resident of Pontiac who’d moved to Memphis and was back visiting loved ones. Due to the severity of Edwards’ injuries, sheriff’s deputies transported her to McLaren Hospital in a patrol car. Just after midnight, a doctor declared her dead.

Three others who survived the shooting: and 18-year-old male, a 19-year-old male and a 23-year-old male, all of whom live in Pontiac.

There is a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Tipsters who call Crime Stoppers remain anonymous.
