Police have released the identity of a woman killed in a murder-suicide that happened Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Amy Brede, 39, according to Sgt. Baron Brown with the Ferndale Police Department.

Brown said the department continues to investigate the case.

Ferndale Police officers at about 5 a.m. Sunday responded to a call from a family member of Matthew Aaron Bush. Bush left his relative a voicemail and said he strangled and killed a woman at her home on Marshall.

Bush also said in his message he ingested a large quantity of drugs to commit suicide, according to authorities.

Police arrived at the home on Marshall and found Brede’s body in the backyard.

Officers then went to Bush’s home in Hazel Park and found his body. Police believe he died from a drug overdose.

It’s not clear what kind of relationship Bush had with the victim.
