Southfield PD: Father accidentally shoots son in face

A 49-year-old Southfield man apparently accidentally shot his 19-year-old son in the face on Tuesday, police said.

The non-fatal shooting occurred around 2 p.m. at the Towers of Southfield apartment complex in the 20000 block of Lahser Road, according to police.

When officers arrived they found a 19-year-old man with a non-life-threatening facial wound. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. Preliminary information indicates the shooting was an accident, police said.

The victim’s condition was unknown Tuesday afternoon.

The father lives in the apartment where the shooting occurred, according to police. The son is a Detroit resident.
