Southbound Interstate 75 had only the right lane open Tuesday morning as crews fought a car fire, according to Michigan State Police.

Other southbound lanes were closed at Interstate 696, police said. Traffic was backed up north to 14 Mile and was being detoured onto I-696.

The crash happened shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Michael Shaw said. There were no reported injuries and no further details were immediately available.

“When the fire department puts (the fire) out, they’ll turn (the investigation) back over to us and we’ll reopen the lanes,” Shaw said around 8 a.m. He did not have an estimation on when the expressway would reopen.
