A Bloomfield Township woman took drastic action to scare away her boyfriend after an argument this week — then ended up in custody, police said.

Township officers were called to the 1000 block of Winthrop at about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday after a caller reported a woman “shot her pistol outside,” investigators said in a statement.

Officers arriving on the scene stopped the suspected woman as she was driving away, according to the release. The woman, identified as Mysti Clanagan, told them she had fired her pistol into the ground.

The 42-year-old “said she was having an argument with her boyfriend and he would not leave,” state police said. “She fired her weapon to get him to leave.”

The boyfriend had already left the scene but later spoke with investigators and confirmed her account, police said.

Clanagan was arrested for reckless discharge of a firearm.

Her arraignment was at 48th District Court in Bloomfield Hills in front of Magistrate Howard Linden. Bond was set at $500.
