An 18-year-old Waterford Township man is dead and two others were injured after a crash early Tuesday in Independence Township.

Deputies and the Independence Township Fire Department were called around 1:42 a.m. to the intersection of Clintonville and Mann for a vehicle crash.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, a 2016 Ford Super Duty pickup was traveling south on Clintonville when it struck the passenger side of a 2003 Dodge Neon on westbound Mann.

An investigation showed the driver of the Neon, a 20-year-old Waterford Township woman, failed to stop at a stop sign at Mann before her vehicle was struck, officials said.

Deputies found three people trapped inside the Neon. The driver and back seat passenger, a 20-year-old Waterford Township man, were taken to McLaren Osteopathic Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The front seat passenger, an 18-year-old Waterford Township man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, a 31-year-old Waterford Township man, was not injured.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, officials said. Occupants of both vehicles were wearing seat belts.
