A 34-year-old Pontiac woman was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly stabbing two people — one of them her own mother, police said.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office arrived to the 200 block of Charles Lane just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday on a report that a woman was outside an apartment, stabbing people.

One victim, a 24-year-old woman, was found “with stab wounds to her back, chest and hands,” police said, and said the injuries were inflicted by a friend she’d just been arguing with outside her apartment. At some point, the suspect allegedly went into her apartment, returned with a kitchen knife, and started stabbing.

The suspect’s mother, 57, tried to intervene and stop the violence, but wound up with lacerations during the struggle. Star EMS took her to St. Joseph Mercy Oakland for treatment.

Soon after, sheriff’s deputies found the suspect inside the apartment building and arrested her without incident, they said. She is at Oakland County Jail, pending charges. The woman she allegedly stabbed is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
