Authorities: Man sexually assaults laundry worker
Pontiac — An employee at a Pontiac coin laundry said she was robbed and sexually assaulted early Friday morning.
The 35-year-old woman said one customer was inside the Baldwin Road Coin Laundry in the 1500 block of Baldwin Road when the suspect knocked on the locked door about 1 a.m. while she was cleaning the business.
The woman said she told the man — described as thin, black about 6-feet tall and 20 years old — could not come inside unless he had clothes to wash, and he said he had a coat he planned to clean so she unlocked the door and let him inside.
The suspect sat down at a table and she repeated he had to leave unless he had clothes to wash and he replied his mother was bringing some clothes.
While she continued to clean, the suspect, who was dressed in blue jeans, dark shoes, a red or orange shirt and a brown leather coat and dark-knit cap with orange and white stripes, walked up behind her with his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun and ordered her to give him money from the cash register.
He then walked her into a backroom of the business where he physically and sexually assaulted her before fleeing out of the building running in a northerly direction.
Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office responded with a K-9, which was able to track the suspect for a short distance before losing the scent.
The woman was treated at an area hospital.
