Authorities: Pontiac man assaults wife with hammer
Pontiac — A 55-year-old Pontiac man is in custody Thursday and expected to face charges for assaulting his wife with a hammer.
Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of East Beverly in Pontiac about 11:11 p.m. Wednesday on a domestic dispute and possible assault.
When they arrived they found the suspect outside the address. He said he had an argument with his 56-year-old wife. Sheriff’s deputies said the woman was found upstairs, unresponsive, after being apparently being struck in the head with a hammer. She was rushed to an area hospital where she was reported in critical condition Thursday morning.
The man remains in custody on still to be determined charges, deputies said.
