Southfield — Police released a video Thursday of a suspect who robbed a hotel clerk at knifepoint earlier this month.
Police are asking help in identifying the suspect described as a medium-complexioned black man with a short goatee, mustache and Afro, about 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, who confronted an office desk clerk about 3:25 a.m. on Jan. 12 in the Embassy Suites, 28100 Franklin.
The man, who was armed with a knife, ordered the clerk to be quiet and to tell him where the petty cash was kept, according to police. The clerk, who was not injured in the incident, gave the man money from a cash drawer and said he fled the hotel in an unknown direction.
The suspect was dressed in a navy-blue Levi Strauss hoodie, white T-shirt, dark pants and shoes. The knife had a black fixed blade, about 3 to 4 inches in length.
