Two men charged in murder of Southfield man

Two 18-year-old men have been charged in connection with the murder of a Southfield man earlier this week near Evergreen and 12 Mile roads.

Jalen William Smith, of Southfield and Tyler Maliek Allen of Detroit were arrested in the shooting which happened Sunday night in the parking lot of Kingswood Place Condominiums.

Southfield police say 21-year-old Joshua Harris was found dead in a vehicle with one gunshot wound to the head. The vehicle had crashed during the incident.

A 19-year-old Detroit man was seen running from the scene but returned a short time later. Police discovered he was a passenger in the vehicle.

Harris and the 19-year-old Detroit man were reportedly meeting Smith and Allen to sell them marijuana, police say.

Smith and Allen were both charged with felony murder, armed robbery, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, assault with intent to murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Both were ordered to be held without bond pending their next court appearance.

A probable cause conference for Smith and Allen is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Jan. 30 in 46th District Court.
