Video shows thief swiping construction tools

Waterford Township — Police released a video Monday of a thief making off with a trailer full of thousands of dollars in construction tools.

The Jan. 2 theft occurred about 12:05 a.m. in the 4600 block of Walton Boulevard.

A surveillance video from a nearby business filmed a white Chevrolet pickup, a mid- to late-2000 model with an extended cab, back up to trailer and a man hooking up the trailer before driving away.

The trailer was reported to have contained several thousand dollars in construction tools. The trailer — empty — was found several days later in a nearby parking lot.

Police seek help in identifying the suspect and the vehicle and ask tipsters to call (248) 618-6077.
