Hoax leads to increased police at Waterford schools
Mike Martindale, The Detroit News
Extra police protection is being provided to all Waterford Township schools Monday following a social media hoax warning of violence.

Police said they have identified two minors responsible for posting a photo Sunday of someone holding a rife with a warning caption not to attend either Durant or Waterford Mott high schools.
The two students responsible were identified, questioned and left in custody of their parents. The rifle -- identified as a Ruger pellet gun held by one of the suspects -- was confiscated and the matter is being reviewed for possible charges.
Police stressed while the threat was a hoax because of the seriousness of the incident, extra police protection would be provided at township schools.
